In Canada, reported "unprecedented" numbers of illegal migrants from the United States
Over the summer months, the border between the United States and Canada has illegally crossed over 7,000 people, which is several times more than in previous years.
This was spoken by the spokesman of the Canadian Royal Equestrian Police, Claude Castongai, the Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The number of illegal migrants is unprecedented. We patrol the border around the clock every day and have never seen such an amount of crossings beyond the official checkpoints, "said Castonga.
According to him, particularly rapidly the number of illegal migrants began to increase this month. So, over the past two weeks more than 3,800 asylum seekers have illegally moved to Canada from the United States.
At the same time, police are assured of the absence of serious threats to the population of Canada due to the growing number of illegal migrants. "Our officers must check each person to make sure that it does not endanger the population of Canada. We can assure that their unlawful act is illegal crossing the border ", - said the spokesman.
Despite the fact that the federal government of Canada has already allocated additional resources, the queue of asylum seekers only increases and currently more than 3,000 people are awaiting consideration of their application in temporary camps, broken near the border.
Most of the illegal migrants have a Haitian nationality and are legally in the United States, but they get to Canada bypassing the official checkpoints. Many of them, with their destination, elect Montreal through the local Haitian community, which is the largest in Canada.
Experts attribute the rapid increase in the number of Haitian asylum-seekers to the fact that in May Donald Trump warned about the possibility of abolishing the secure status of Haitians who arrived in the United States as refugees after the 2010 destructive earthquake. Thus, some 60,000 people may be deported from the United States early next year. To avoid this, they are trying to get refugee status in Canada.
