In the Ministry of Justice has been training on problems preventing torture
August 15 the Ministry of Justice training for government officials on "International and regional mechanisms to prevent torture." The event was organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the support of the Council of Europe and the UN.
August 15 the Ministry of Justice training for government officials on "International and regional mechanisms to prevent torture." The event was organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the support of the Council of Europe and the UN.
During the workshop international experts and human rights activists, among them Nicholas Hnatovskyy, Armand Daniyelyan and Verhoinoyi Commissioner of the Human Rights Valeria Lutkovska highlighted a number of issues relating to the rights of prisoners.
In particular, training participants discussed such issues as:
- Visits to places of detention delegations of international organizations during the armed conflict.
- The obligation of States Parties under CPT and AF;
- UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (AUC) and the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or degrading Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT): structure and mandate;
- Institutions that can be visited AUC and CPT: the definition of persons holding in accordance with AF and European human rights law
- Visit the control panel: the composition of the delegation, access to the institutions of the closed type, access to persons, premises and documents confidential.
- Monitoring of human rights in prisons nationwide.
Participation in the training were representatives from the Interior Ministry, DPtS, Defense, GPU, SBS underline during meeting MOH, DMS, Security and Office of the Ombudsman.
