In Odessa on March 3, the 19th Reporting and Election Conference of the regional organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine was held.
Out of 83 elected delegates, the conference was attended by 73 representatives of the journalistic community of regional, city and district mass media. The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine was represented by the first secretary of the NSJU Sergei Tomilenko and the Secretary of the Union Gleb Golovchenko.
With the report on the work of the organization for the period 2012-2017. Yuri Rabotin spoke. He stressed that it is difficult, almost impossible, to present the multifaceted five-year activity of the regional organization, which has always reacted promptly to the main aspects of the life of the country and the region at the political, ideological and social levels. A simple list of the calendar report on
400 planned events - press conferences, briefings, meetings, roundtables, exhibitions, presentations, seminars, information and ceremonial meetings, as well as other forms and activities, occupy 16 pages of slim computer text. Much attention was paid to the organization of physical and moral education of children and young people, searching for solutions to emergency psychological assistance to fellow countrymen, information technology for survival in difficult conditions. The organization did not stand aside of the acute problems caused by Russian aggression, rendering assistance to servicemen-participants of the ATU, volunteers, internally displaced persons and their children. The focus was on the care of veterans of war and labor, people who badly need personalized assistance. Substantial intolerance was shown by journalists, raising the topic of fighting corruption, or rising to protect the environment. At the same time, problems of spirituality were not forgotten: popularization of published novelties of literature and journalism, participation in festivals, strengthening of ties with creative unions. A special pride is the organization and holding of the all - Ukrainian contest "Ukrainian Moving - Edinnia", which has become a universally recognized and unifying factor of statehood, spirituality, worldview of hundreds of thousands of our compatriots. The regional journalistic organization also dealt with training journalists, publishing and international activities.
The delegates gave a positive assessment of the work of the board, noted the professionalism, initiative, authority and great dedication of the chairman Yuri Rabotin. Critical remarks also sounded: the accountability of the members of the organization was not enough, the primary organizations were not feeling active, and the opportunities and potential of the Odessa Regional Institute of Public Administration of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine was not used in training journalists.
In his speech, the first secretary of the NSJU Sergei Tomilenko noted the positive experience of the work of the Odessa, the largest media organization in Ukraine, outlined the priorities, including: protection of journalists' rights; support to the media in the process of reform; work with youth; support for veterans; professional training of journalists. He said: "The Odessa regional organization of the NSJU should become the basic organization of freedom of speech in Ukraine."
The work of the Odessa regional organization of the NSJU was deemed satisfactory. The conference elected a board of 17 people, as well as, according to the quota, 32 delegates to the next congress of the CNMU, which will be held in late April in Kiev.
When choosing a leader, the delegates nominated only one candidate - Yuri Rabotin, Honored Journalist of Ukraine, who already heads the regional organization for several terms.
Yuri Rabotin was unanimously elected for another term, as his activity is a kind of quality sign, there is simply no alternative.
