The head of the Ministry of Justice informed the Ambassador that the Ministry of Justice has prepared and provided for the adoption of legislation required to launch new anti-corruption bodies that already work and show results. He also spoke about the changes that took place in the ministry. In addition, Paul Smith informed the Ambassador about the reform of the registration system of registration and transfer of functions to local authorities and notaries in the process of decentralization and de-monopolization. According to him, another very important area - the start of the reform of the judiciary. Justice Minister stressed that preparations for the start of this process lasted 2 years. During this time managed to develop and adopt not only the changes to the Constitution, but also implementing a law that makes it possible to introduce into life the changes spelled out in the Constitution and to ensure honest Ukrainian justice.
"Now for us the main priority - Ensure fully transparent and open competition for the selection of judges to the new court system," - said the head of the Justice Ministry.
He also noted that now the time to continue working on the development of new anti-corruption laws, including the law that will ensure the return of state assets obtained illegally under civil proceedings.
"Thank your experts, who for the last 6 months helped us in developing this legislation. We expect that this legislation will pass through Parliament successfully. It is absolutely clear how important this law for our country ", - said Paul Smith.
First Deputy Minister of Justice Sevostyanova Natalia, in turn, noted that the Ministry of Justice is preparing a plan of their own for 3 years and annual plans, developed in full compliance with the strategy of reforming the sector of Justice in 2015-2020 years, which was developed jointly with European experts . She also stressed the need for further development of electronic services as part of e-government, run a complete system of probation and continued reform prisons.
According to Deputy Minister of Justice Anton Yanchuk, Justice is really exceptional and successful cooperation with the EU Delegation to Ukraine. "We feel your support, and we need this support in the future," - he said.
He also informed the Ambassador about the progress of the design and details of the bill, which will provide a return to the state income unjustified assets in civil proceedings.
