In Lviv Migration Service employees taught European standards in relation to asylum seekers
December 17 in Lviv seminar "Application of the European Convention on Human Rights Fundamental Freedoms in cases of refoulement, extradition and denial of protection to asylum seekers."
The seminar was organized by Ukrainian Ґelsynskoyu Human Rights Union under the project "Advocacy and raising the capacity of the Government in the field of migration" with the assistance of the State Migration Service of Ukraine. Support - the European Union, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization Hayes.
Participation in the workshop staff of the Office for Foreigners and stateless PG State Migration Service of Ukraine in Lviv region and territorial departments of the city.
The purpose of the project - the development and maintenance of effective dialogue between civil society organizations and key government entities in the field of migration and asylum. Meanwhile, organizers of the exercises aim to potential interaction with relevant authorities at all levels to reform national legislation, policies and administrative practices with European standards in cases of expulsion and denial of protection to asylum seekers.
The working group, which broke the participants, working on key aspects of the legislation on prevention and discrimination, studied the principles of non-discrimination, the responsibilities of executive authorities, the main public policy, freedom from discrimination, migration, combating "hate speech" the right to freedom from torture, cruel and inhuman treatment, the right to respect for private and family life.
Irina Rosovska, head of sector on work with refugees and social integration PG LCA Ukraine in Lviv region: During the seminar analyzed the cases of asylum protection were considered in the European Court of Human Rights. This positive impact in our practical work in cases of asylum protection and influence the decision in writing opinions on cases. Important for us was a detailed examination of the articles of the European Convention on Human Rights and their use not only in theory but in practical group sessions that had organizers exercises.
All participants received the certificates confirming their participation in the study.
