Ternopil not a border area, but adjacent to Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova.

According to the latest census Ukraine 2001 in Ternopil region the vast majority of residents (97.81%) are Ukrainian. In this region the percentage ranks first among the regions of Ukraine.
